The Generac Guardian 22 kW is the most popular whole-home standby generator in North America, and for good reason. With 22 kilowatts of output on liquid propane (19.5 kW on natural gas) and the included 200 A whole-house automatic transfer switch, this system can back up an average 2,000–3,000 sq ft home in its entirety — central AC, electric range, well pump, sump pump, lighting and outlets all running simultaneously, no load shedding required.
The system installs outside the home (similar to a central AC condenser) and ties into the existing utility line and natural gas or propane supply. When the grid fails, the Guardian senses the outage in seconds, fires up its 999cc OHV V-twin engine and begins powering the entire home through the included 200 A automatic transfer switch. When utility power returns, the generator shuts down automatically and the home seamlessly returns to grid service.
Generac’s Mobile Link Wi-Fi monitoring is included and lets you check generator status, run history and maintenance reminders from anywhere via the Mobile Link app. The aluminum RhinoCoat™ enclosure is designed for coastal corrosion resistance, and Generac backs the system with a 5-year limited warranty.
The G-Force pressure-lubricated engine, removable side panels and quiet-test cycle at low RPM make the Guardian quieter and easier to service than competitors of similar capacity.
